H1 ENERGY ANALYSIS
McLean Consulting provides analysis and verification reports that building designs meet the energy efficiency requirements set out in New Zealand Building Code Clause H1.
OUR METHOD
We can analyse the energy performance of buildings using any of the methods in NZS 4218 or NZS 4243:
- Schedule method
- Calculation method
- Modelling method
For all but the simplest buildings we prefer the modelling method of analysis. This provides for rapid comparison of glazing and insulation options and takes proper account of building orientation and glass shading for maximum design flexibility.
COST SAVING
If we are also doing the HVAC design the same building model can be used for H1 energy analysis with a considerable cost saving.
Modelling Software
We use industry-standard simulation packages complying with ASHRAE Standard 140-2007 with building thermal simulation engine validated to the IEA’s “Building Energy Simulation Test & Diagnostic Method (BESTEST).
